What we keep

No clause numbers on this page and no definitions section. If any of it is unclear, phone the order desk and someone will read it back to you in Bangla.

What we collect

Five things reach us in an ordinary order: your name, your phone number, your delivery address, what you bought, and an email address if you typed one. Every order is cash on delivery, so that is the entire list.

Collected against why
Name
Goes on the invoice and on the courier slip. The rider asks for it at the door.
Phone number
The rider calls it before delivery. We call it if the bat you ordered weighs 1,190g and you asked for 1,150g.
Delivery address
Printed on the courier slip. Nothing else uses it.
Email address
Order confirmation and the reminder that your 7-day return window is closing. Optional. Checkout works without one.
What you ordered
Warranty claims, returns, and knowing which grip you liked last time you came in.
Stringing and knocking-in job card
Racket model, string, tension, your phone number. So the next restring matches the last one instead of starting from a guess.

Nothing on this site asks for your date of birth, your NID number or your income. If a field ever appears asking for one of those, it is not ours. Close the page and phone the order desk.

What we do not collect

We never take a card number, a wallet PIN or an OTP. Nobody from Sportycus will ever phone to ask for one. Anyone who does is not from Sportycus.

The shop takes cash at the door and never asks for a card number, a PIN or an OTP.

There are no advertising pixels on this site. No Meta pixel, no remarketing tag, nothing that follows you to another site to show you the bat you were looking at on Tuesday. We count page views so we know which guides get read. That count is not tied to your name.

Cookies, and what sits on your device

Your bag and your saved list live in your own browser's storage, on the device you are using. They are not sent to us, and there is no record of them here until you check out.

  • A bag built on your phone will not appear on your office desktop.
  • Clearing browser data clears the bag and the saved list. We cannot restore either, because we never had them.
  • A private window starts empty every time.

The only cookie we set is the session cookie that keeps you signed in if you make an account. It expires on its own. Sign out and it is gone before that.

Who else sees it

The courier

The courier is told four things: name, address, phone, and how much to collect.

Not your email. Not what else you have bought from us. The rider sees the amount to collect and nothing else about the order. Inside Dhaka the slip goes to our own rider. To the other 63 districts it goes to a courier company, and from the moment the parcel is scanned in, their terms sit alongside ours for the name, address and phone on that slip.

Nobody else

We do not sell lists. We do not trade customer files with other shops, with clubs, or with brand distributors. When a brand asks us who bought their rackets last quarter, they get a number. They do not get names, and they have stopped asking.

How long we keep it

Retention
Invoice and order record
Five years. The Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act 2012 requires a business to preserve its records that long, and we do not get to shorten it.
Name, phone and address in the live customer file
Until you ask us to remove them.
Courier slip, once the parcel is with the courier
Their retention, on their schedule. Ask them.
Stringing and knocking-in job cards
Three years. It is a paper book on the bench. When it is full and old, it gets shredded.
Stockroom CCTV
About 30 days, then it records over itself.
Guides mailer list
Until you unsubscribe.
Bag and saved list
However long your browser keeps them. Not our decision and not our copy.

Deleting your record

Phone the order desk, or email privacy@sportycus.com from the address on the order or with the order number in the message. Say what you want removed. It is done within seven working days and nobody asks you why. There is no form to fill in.

You can also ask for a copy of what we hold. It comes back as a plain list of your orders and your job cards. It is usually shorter than people expect.

What we cannot delete

Invoices. Deleting your record takes your name, phone number and address out of the live customer file. The invoice stays in the VAT book until its five years are up, because keeping it is a legal requirement and closing the shop is not a privacy measure.

SMS and email

You get an SMS when the order is confirmed and another when the rider sets out. Those are the order, not marketing, and they do not have an off switch.

The buying guides mailer is separate and you tick it yourself. It goes out about twice a month, written by shop staff and the club players who test for us. The unsubscribe link works on the first click. There is no second list you get moved onto.

If something leaks

If our customer file is ever taken or exposed, we phone or SMS everyone in it within 72 hours of finding out, and we say what was in it and what was not. No lawyer drafts that message first. The one thing we will be able to say with certainty is that no card numbers went with it, because there were none to take.

Where the law stands

Bangladesh has no general data protection act in force. A bill has moved in and out of draft for years. We wrote this policy as though it had already passed, because the alternative is publishing nothing and calling it a policy. If a law does arrive asking for more than this page promises, we will do the more.

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. We keep every previous version on file. Ask and we will show you what was different.
